Representation matters — Dr. Maestas models what's possible
Dr. Maestas's involvement with the Hispanic Dental Association and her own background as a Latina dentist makes this podcast feel like it's for me in a way that most dental content doesn't. Representation in dental media is genuinely lacking and this podcast is one of the few places where I see my experience reflected.
Beyond the representation value, the content on navigating early career decisions — residency vs. direct practice, associate negotiations, student loan strategy — is excellent.
Exactly what the new dentist community needed
The first year after graduation is genuinely disorienting. You go from the structure of school to the chaos of practice with almost no support for the transition. Dr. Maestas built this podcast specifically for that gap and the community it's creating is real.
Hearing from dentists who graduated 2-3 years ago sharing what they wish they'd known is more valuable than any advice from someone 20 years into ownership. The ADA association connection also means access to organized dentistry perspectives that new grads often miss.
Helpful for practice owners
Some good takeaways here. Not every episode is a winner but the good ones are really good.
Pretty good overall
Not my absolute favorite but I keep coming back. Good production quality and solid guests.
My team loves this
Our office manager recommended this and now the whole team listens. Great for office culture.
Has its moments
A few standout episodes but overall pretty average. Production quality could improve.
Hit or miss
Some episodes are fantastic, others feel like filler. Inconsistent quality overall.
Better than most
In a crowded dental podcast space, this one stands above average. Good interviews especially.
Waste of time
Stopped listening after 5 episodes. All surface-level advice that you can find in any blog post.

Love this show
Genuine, practical advice from someone who clearly knows the industry well.
Too much self-promotion
Good information buried under constant plugs for courses and products. Gets old fast.
Okay, nothing special
Average podcast with average advice. Nothing I haven't heard elsewhere honestly.
