Truly the best, not just clinically informative but emotionally supportive too
Dentists can be funny
did you know that dentists can be funny
Excellent for dental students wanting real-world perspective
Found Dental Hacks in my second year of dental school when I was desperate for content that didn't sound like a textbook. Alan and Jason do a fantastic job of translating clinical concepts into how they actually apply in practice — the kind of thing you don't learn in school.
The technology episodes are particularly good. When they covered their experiences with CBCT, intraoral scanners, and CAD/CAM, it gave me a much better foundation than anything in my curriculum.
The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that the older episodes can feel a bit meandering. They've tightened up the format over the years but some older episodes need editing.
The most authentic dental podcast out there
I've been listening to Dental Hacks since around episode 100 and it's the one podcast I've never unsubscribed from. Alan and Jason are just two regular dentists talking like dentists actually talk — no corporate sponsors telling them what to say, no trying to sell you a coaching program.
What keeps me coming back is that they cover clinical topics with real nuance. When they cover a new material or technique, they're not just reading a press release — they're sharing actual clinical experience and sometimes telling you the product didn't live up to the hype. That kind of honesty is rare.
The Hacks segment where listeners submit tips is one of my favorite things in all of dental podcasting. Simple, practical, and sometimes surprisingly useful. Highly recommend to any dentist who wants content that respects their intelligence.
